Ana & Brian's Wedding Celebration At The Italian American Community Center

Wedding Photographers Albany NY

Meeting couples like Ana and Brian is a huge reason I love being a wedding photographer!

I say this with absolute honesty and sincerity.  I feel very fortunate to meet and work with such amazing couples.  Ana and Brian's situation was pretty unique.  Several months ago, I received an email from Brian checking my availability to photograph their wedding celebration on 12/30/2017 at the Italian American Community Center in Albany, NY.  He explained how he and his wife, Ana, reside in Spain and how they were married there back in August.  Brian is originally from the Albany, NY area and they would be returning to have a second wedding celebration with his family and friends.  After exchanging a few very long distance emails, it was decided we would be working together!

On Christmas day, I'm sure you all recall waking up to a beautiful (depending on your perspective) winter wonderland as the snow softly fell.  As I sat in the afterglow of Christmas day watching the news, the forecast was for another potential snow storm on Ana and Brian's celebration.  Of course, this got my creative juices flowing as I imagined the possibilities of capturing gorgeous photos as a fresh blanket of snow fell.  However, as Saturday grew closer the forecast was trending away from getting snow.  They had predicted some snow showers in the morning, but based on the forecast it appeared any snow we did get, would be ending in the afternoon.  I was a little bummed, but looking forward to finally meeting Ana and Brian in person.

We arrived at the Italian American Club around 4:00pm and the snow showers had stopped.  We expected Ana and Brian to be arriving around 4:30pm, so we took that opportunity to capture some photos of the club's garden area.  Brian had mentioned to me how special the gardens are to him because his grandfather used to be on the Board and he played an instrumental role in the creation of the gardens.  As we captured photos of the empty gardens, my mind was racing  with creative ideas - I couldn't wait to get Ana and Brian out there for their creative session!

After the bride and groom arrived, the bride put on her finishing touches and we were ready to begin their couple session in the gardens.  It's worth noting, when Ana and Brian were married in Spain, the temperature was over 100 degrees.  For their Albany wedding celebration, it was a balmy 8 degrees.  Almost a 100 degree difference!  We spent a good 30 minutes taking photos and I must say, I've never seen a couple take on the elements like these two did - It was amazing!

As we entered the gardens, a few snowflakes started falling from the sky.  We were probably out there about 10-15 minutes when the snow started to pick up in intensity.  I can't be sure, but I think I saw Santa.  I can only assume this magical and charming snow was a late Christmas gift.

Another of my favorites.  With the lights and snow falling, it's just a romantic walk through a park.

The snow was coming down more steadily and it really made for some fantastic images.  The kiss coupled with the snow, and the black and white effect creates a very romantic feel.

Sharing a loving moment in the snow and frigid temperatures.  By looking at them, you'd never know it was almost zero degrees!

An intriguing perspective of the entrance to the gardens.  Quite a difference from the photo we showed you earlier in the day without this beautiful couple or the snow.

This is definitely one of my favorite photos.  The snow, the lights, the pose - it's a perfect storm of beauty!

I would once again like to Congratulate Ana and Brian on their marriage!  We wish you many years of good health and happiness.  While I'm thankful for the perfectly time snow that helped us create magical images, I'm a little jealous knowing your back in Spain enjoying warm weather and sunshine.

I'd also like to give a special thank you to the Italian American Community Center.  The staff was incredible and their service was second to none.  They were very inviting, helpful, and made you feel like part of their family.
